NICK SARGENT from Eastham Lodge continued his relentless progress in the order of merit table when he claimed a share of top place in the individual section of the Liverpool Alliance at West Lancashire.
Sargent returned 41 points, a card matched by Adam Powell from Hartford, helped with an eagle at the second.
Kevin Hartley from Runcorn was third with 40.
Sargent, with Frank Barham from Chester, also won the pro-am with 46.
Powell with club partner Rod Hill and the West Lancashire partnership of Chris Crowder and Neil Reeves shared second place with 45.
The Swede brothers, Matt and Dan from Caldy, and new Alliance members Gary Millar and Paul Howard from Southport and Ainsdale shared top place in the am-am with 44 points.
John Sondergaard and James Tisdale (Jnr) from Blundells Hill were third with 43.
Sargent now has a lead of almost 100 points in the merit table.
But the race is not finished and the encouraging news for the title challengers is that the Eastham Lodge player will be absent from the Alliance, “otherwise engaged” for the next three weeks.
