SOUTHPORT and Ainsdale’s James Robinson will represent the English Golf Union in the biennial Simon Bolivar Cup in Venezuela, which starts next week.
Robinson, selected together with Billy Hemstock from Devon, who is also in the England squad, made his full international debut in the winning England team in the Home Internationals at Hillside in August.
Like Hemstock he has enjoyed a successful season, winning the Lytham Trophy, sharing third place in the Hampshire Hog and also reaching the last 16 of the Spanish Amateur.
A semi-finalist in the English Amateur in 2007, this season he has finished runner-up in the Southport and Ainsdale Bowl, finished fifth in the Pines Trophy and reached the last 32 of the English Amateur.
