MORE than 20,000 are set to descend on Haydock Park and Aintree for the fifth annual North West Racing Masters next month. We have five pairs of weekend tickets for the showpiece event which has become an increasing popular two-day meeting on Merseyside. The quality of racing at Haydock Park – with the £200,000 Betfair Chase as the major attraction which was won last year by Peter Bowen’s Snoopy Loopy – is top class on Saturday. The races also feature the Betfair “Fixed Brush” Handicap Hurdle over the racecourse’s French-style hurdles. The meeting puts the racecourse in the national spotlight, and attracts a large and enthusiastic crowd. At Aintree on the Sunday, the key race is the £100,000 totesport.com Becher Chase run over the famous John Smith’s Grand National fences and won last year’s by Dessie Hughes’ Black Apalachi. A great day out is laid on for all of the family, offering a taste of the festive season. The Becher Chase is one of two races over the Grand National fences with the Grand Sefton Chase also part of a six-race card. As well as the racing there is the chance to meet Santa and real reindeer or browse through Christmas concessions while listening to carols. The first race time at Haydock Park on Saturday, November 21 is currently scheduled for 12.25pm. Then, 24 hours later, the action moves to Aintree when it is a 12.05pm scheduled start.
