Another fighter clearly looking forward to the show is Birmingham light-welterweight Frankie Gavin, the 2007 World Amateur Champion.
He’s looking forward to a derby battle of his own after being matched with Midlands Area champion Steve Saville, a fighter with a proud 19-6 record.
Gavin, with three stoppages in three starts so far, smiled: “He’s a good fighter and one who hasn’t been stopped for about eight years but I’m really up for the fight and want to put in a good performance.”
And Beijing gold medallist middleweight James Degale also agrees that putting on a show tomorrow is high on his agenda.
He also steps up a level, matched with another three-fight unbeaten domestic contender in Cumbrian Ally Morrison, yet ‘Chunky’ looked very relaxed and composed yesterday.
He said: “I’m really looking forward to it and I’ve been working on so much, especially technique, in the gym that I think fans will be impressed again with how much I have come on.
“I judge my progress so far on my sparring as I have top quality sparring and that’s gone fantastically. I’m confident that anything this guy brings to the ring I will be able to take care of.”
Promoter Frank Warren also revealed that all four former England international team-mates will be in title class inside the next 12 months.
He’s delighted all have decent steps up in class of opponent in Liverpool and wants the local fight fans to see the best of his refreshed domestic stable.
He said: “All these four youngsters have tremendous amateur experience. They can all move on pretty quickly and title fights for all of them should come next year.
“This is a great chance for Liverpool sports fans to see the future of British boxing.”
