Quigley is proving tower of strength

FIGHT fans will be treated to a bigger and, hopefully, better Tony Quigley when he guns for his fourth straight win as a professional fighter this weekend.

The former Tower Hill junior star (right) has exploded in size since handing in his amateur vest little more than 18 months ago.

His last amateur contest was down at welterweight (101/2 stone), but he will enter the ring at Manchester's MEN Arena this weekend as a cruiserweight!

That's a gain of around three stone, yet the Knowsley prospect looks in great shape and claims to be feeling stronger than ever.

"It's a big jump up in weight, but my body has matured so much since I left the amateurs and started training full time," says the 20-year-old.

"I broke my hand last year and that not only restricted the amount of fights I could have, but also gave my body time to grow naturally and fill out.

"I'll be competing as a light-heavyweight after I get a few fights under my belt this year, but right now I am comfortable even at the weight above.

"I'm feeling strong at 13 1/2 stone and I'm fully confident of adding another win to my record this weekend."

Montenegro veteran Shpetim Hoti will provide Quigley with his first international opposition this week, and while the London-based battler has lost eight in 10 he is an established cruiser.

Meanwhile, middleweight star Paul Smith Jnr also features on Friday's MEN bill, topped by Mancunian Michael Gomez making the latest defence of his WBU super-featherweight title.

"The Real Gone Kid" goes looking for his 13th win in the pros in a six-rounder.
