Amir Khan on his way to victory over David Bailey on his professional debut

AMIR KHAN will face the first foreign opponent of his professional career in Nottingham tomorrow.

The 19-year-old lightweight, who won Olympic silver in Athens in 2004, is up against Belarussian Vitali Martynov, 21.

"He's a tough kid from Eastern Europe who will be coming to win, but I have encountered

plenty of these lads during my time in the amateurs," said Khan.

"It's my first six-rounder, so I'm not out to blast him straight away. I want to size him up and then finish him."

Khan had four fights in 2005 after turning professional in May.

He is not expected to challenge for major titles this year, but will be building up his experience before launching a world assault in 2007.

"One thing is for sure, I will not let Martynov upset my first fight of 2006, I've got big plans for the year ahead and I will stay on track," he said.

Chorley's Michael Jennings tops the bill in the second defence of his British welter-weight title against Young

Muttley at the top of the ITV bill tomorrow, with Scouser Derry Mathews as chief support.

Mathews, 22, challenges for the vacant English featherweight title on the bill, taking on Rugeley's Steve Chinnock over 10 rounds.

It will be Mathews' first step up into championship class.
