CHESTER and Ellesmere Port-based pupils have taken their first steps on the road to this season's English National Schools' Cross Country Championships.
Schools from the area have been represented by pupils who have taken part in the District events at Christleton High, Chester, and at Cheshire Oaks, in Ellesmere Port.
The top 20 finishers in each race have qualified for the Cheshire County Schools' Cross Country Championships, to be held in January, before focusing their sights on a place in the English Championships, scheduled to take place on March 20, at Heaton Park, Manchester.
Abby Reynolds (Christleton) celebrated victory in the Chester District Minor Girls race at Christleton.
Natasha was a member of the winning Minor Girls team which also included Emily Boothroyd, Anna Willis, and Eloise Bond.
Christleton's Alice Goulding won the Junior Girls race.
Alice Goulding pointed Christleton home to a team success, supported by Emily Ann Westerby, Amy Jackson, Penny Martin, and Amber Senior. Tessa McCormick (Upton High) won the Inter Girls race at Christleton.
The Queen's School quartet of Lottie Frazer Cox, Rachel Hardy, Amy Heron, and Katie McKay won the team event.
Gemma Mayled (Upton High) won the Senior Girls race at Christleton while King's claimed the team title and Dan Hamp, of Christleton won the Minor Boys race.
