A CROSBY triplet with a rare life-threatening condition is taking part in the world's largest community triathlon - with his brother and sister sharing the gruelling event.
Daniel O'Dempsey, 12, was diagnosed with a rare form of lymphoma in 2003 and has undergone extensive chemotherapy sessions.
The tubes in his body mean he cannot complete the swimming leg of the July 8 Sefton Triathlon so Kieran and Kate will take the swimming and running legs of the event.
Daniel of Partridge Road, Blundellsands, said: "I'll be cycling, whilst Kate swims and Kieran runs.
"We don't expect to win but it will be a fun way to raise money for charity and help others.
"We've done it before but it was harder last time because I was undergoing full chemotherapy.
"They've reduced the dose this year, so I should be okay." Their mother, Theresa O'Dempsey, a doctor, said: "The triathlon is a good way to make sure Daniel is included in the event.
"He has had to have a lot of chemotherapy which makes him quite tired but he has had treatment for the past two and a half years now so he has become used to it.
"The services for people like Daniel rely heavily on funding from charities to improve services and maintain buildings so any money raised is a great help."
