Boxers fighting for campaign

Malcolm Lee of Don't X The Line campaign

THE Don't X The Line campaign has received some heavyweight support from boxing world champion Ricky Hatton.

WBU light-welterweight champion Hatton joined fellow fighter, Liverpool's Paul Smith, at the Rotunda Gym in the city to help promote the scheme, which is trying to improve behaviour on the touchlines at junior football games.

The campaign organiser Malcolm Lee, (pictured), said: "Both Ricky and Paul were impressed with the campaign and with what we are trying to achieve.

"Both of them are big football fans and are aware of some of the problems that are happening every weekend.

"That is why they came down to lend their support."

Hatton, who also signed countless autographs for some of the young boxers at the Rotunda, makes the 12th defence of his title against undefeated Brazilian Kelson Pinto at the MEN Arena in Manchester on April 3.
