Mo leads Olympic heroes on parade

16:45, Sep 10 2012

Mo Farah performed his famous "mobot" in front of thousands of people who squeezed into The Mall to catch a glimpse of the heroes of London 2012 as they travelled towards Buckingham Palace on open-top floats.

The crowds cheered wildly as Olympic stars, including golden girl Jessica Ennis, led The Greatest Team Parade to celebrate the end of an unforgettable summer of British sport.

Among the spectators were thousands of jubilant volunteers and members of the armed forces who provided security services throughout the Games.

Many of the athletes wore their medals around their necks and took photographs of waving fans who had turned out on a dull afternoon to show their support for Team GB and ParalympicsGB.

Prime Minister David Cameron, Deputy PM Nick Clegg London Mayor Boris Johnson also watched the floats pass and waved cheerfully at the smiling athletes.

The rain held off long enough for the Red Arrows to complete a flypast over a sea of bright purple and pink volunteer T-shirts.
