EVERTON defender Alan Stubbs has revealed he believes Premiership football is in danger of being ruined by the antics of foreign stars.
Although he did not name individuals, Stubbs was incensed by the behaviour of at least one of Liverpool's overseas players who he accused of approaching referee Phil Dowd and making gestures to get Everton players booked.
"They're quite sly things really," fumed the defender. "It's not a man thing, it's a sly thing when you're going up to referees and trying to get other players sent off.
"Whoever you are, fans, managers, players, whoever - nobody wants to see that.
"It's up to the authorities to stop it. We can only try and stop it as players on the pitch by saying 'what are you doing?'.
"You ask any British player, that's the last thing we want."
Stubbs called on the FA to clamp down on players pressurising match officials to produce yellow and red cards.
"Fair enough, if it deserves a booking then the player who did the foul should be booked but so should the player who is demanding the card," added Stubbs.
"It's crept into our game lately and it's a foreign thing. They've brought a lot of good things but this is one of the bad things."
Stubbs revealed he confronted one of the Liverpool players about his actions during the game.
"He said he only did it once in the first half," said Stubbs. "They all speak good English, it's not like they don't understand what's going on.
