Liverpool Competition Premier Division by James Pearce, Daily Post
FLEETWOOD Hesketh secured a thrilling two-wicket win at home to Firwood Bootle to move level with them at the top of the Premier League.
Bootle opted to bat first and scored 210 all out off 53 overs. David Snellgrove led the way with 61, while Adam Warren chipped in with 43.
Paul Regan was the pick of the home attack as he claimed 3-28.
The run chase started badly as the hosts slipped to 20-2 but a gutsy effort from the middle and lower order saw them home with an over to spare.
Mansoor Amjad top scored with 41 and there were also key contributions from Neil Rimmer (38), Steve Rimmer (31), Regan (28no) and Andrew Bates (25). Warren's burst of 4-51 was in vain for Bootle.
Winless New Brighton are bottom after they lost by two wickets at Leigh.
The strugglers posted 222-9 off 57.2 overs with Paul Strang again leading the way with a stylish knock of 75. Thompson (35), Kevin Burns (31) and Mark Burns (28) provided assistance as Adam Roussak took 3-19.
Sixth placed Leigh's reply was anchored by Graeme Rummans, who struck a majestic 107 not out to lead his side to 223-8 off 50 overs.
Alex Roussak hit 45, while there were three wickets apiece for Martyn Evans and D While.
