LIVERPOOL songbird Jennifer Ellison is soaring after her biggest breakthrough - into Hollywood.
Against competition from scores of stars, she has landed a role in Andrew Lloyd Webber's big screen version of The Phantom Of The Opera.
She will play Meg Giry, daughter of the ballet mistress Madame Giry and friend of Christine, the woman who captures the heart of the Phantom.
Shooting on the film, which has a budget of $60million, is due to start at Pinewood Studios on September 15 with additional scenes shot in Prague and the Czech Republic.
The part marks the former Brookside girl's first venture into movies and should slot in between her record releases.
After the top ten success of her debut record, Baby I Don't Care, she's bringing out the follow-up Bye Bye Boy in mid-October.
And, when she steps on to the film set, Jennifer, 20, from Croxteth Park, will be in good company with some big names booked for the film.
The two lead roles - Christine and the Phantom, have gone to relative unknowns, teenage New Yorker Emmy Rossum (Mystic River ) and Gerard Butler (Timeline, Reign of Fire).
However, major Hollywood name Minnie Driver has signed up to play Carlotta and Alan Cumming (X Men 2) has also been cast.
Rumour also has it that an ensemble of other stars, including Southport's Miranda Richardson, could also be lined up for the project, which will be directed by Joel Schumacher.
