G-Bar has a facelift

Aug 2 2002

by Zoran Blackie, Liverpool Echo

ONE of Liverpool's gay hotspots will be receiving the makeover treatment. The G-Bar, opposite the gutted Garlands club on Eberle Street, is getting a facelift. The two-floor club is always popular, from Wednesday to Sunday, with an up-for-it gay crowd and their admirers.

The G-Bar has managed to maintain a friendly, clubby atmosphere with little or no attitude from the clientele, uplifting tunes and some of the cutest bar staff in town.

Saturdays have been getting extremely popular as it's free upstairs and only a small fee for the top DJs downstairs. Sundays are a highlight as it packs out after the pubs close.

My sources have revealed the new site for the Escape nightclub, which will make a move close to the existing gay scene.

I am sworn to secrecy for the exact location for now, but they will be providing a stunning new venue with three floors of fun for you to play in.

In the meantime, their existing location on Paradise Street will continue to host the homeless Garlands crew with their headline Saturday nighters.
