Mardi magic
THE North-west's biggest gay festival is fast approaching. Manchester's Mardi Gras Weekend kicks off next Friday, featuring big name celebs, huge events, parades and thousands of gay party-goers.
This year it's organized by local club owners and members of the Village Business Association.
All profits go to local lesbian, gay and HIV charities in the North West. The main stage features your favourite pop acts and gay icons.
I'll give you the full run-down of acts and club nights next week. You can indulge in your favourite retail therapy at the Mardi Gras Street Market selling everything from rainbow ribbons to more exotic gifts for your partner.
The big parade takes place on the Saturday from 2pm at the Castlefield end of Deansgate, and will feature floats from a variety of community groups from the Gay Bikers to the Queen Mothers (Friends and Families of Lesbians and Gays).
The National HIV/AIDS vigil will take place by the main stage in Sackville Park on Monday night, 9.30pm, before the official closing of the event.
