* Born: Sarpsborg, Norway, October 16 1973 (current age 34) * 70 Everton appearances 1997-2001 * Signed by Kendall for £800,000 from Viking following a successful trial and was first choice for almost two years before suffering an ankle injury in 1999 * Struggled to return to the side, partly due to a clause in his contract that meant Everton would have to give further payments to his former club in Norway and was loaned out to Rangers, Birmingham, Tranmere and Copenhagen * Joined Turkish club Besiktas in 2001 but returned to England to play for Sunderland, Crystal Palace (on loan) and Charlton * Has played 56 times for the Norwegian national team and returned to Viking earlier this year
* Born: South Shields, Tyne & Wear, April 3 1979 (current age 28) * 30 Everton appearances 1998- 2004 * Considered as one of the country’s top young goalkeepers while at Tranmere, he was tipped to be a future England number one by then- manager John Aldridge * An England U21 international, he crossed the Mersey to join Everton for a fee that was reported as being a record £3.3million at the time * Had to wait more than a year for his debut and only ever played regularly at Goodison during the 2001/02 season * Joined Stoke City when he contract expired in 2004 and has now played more thanover 125 games for the Potters having been voted Player of the Season at the end of his first season at the Britannia Stadium
Richard Wright
* Born: Ipswich, Suffolk, November 5 1977, (current age 30) * 60 Everton appearances 2002- 2007 * Another keeper who was tipped for greatness as a youngster, he Started at Ipswich and played 240 times for his hometown club and won two England caps * Joined Arsenal for £6million in 2001 being earmarked as being David Seaman’s successor and although he but was allowed to move to Goodison a year later for £3.5million his acquisition for still seen as a major coup for David Moyes * Played regularly in his first season for Everton but a series of freak injuries, including falling from a loft and hitting a sign in a goalmouth, later saw him struggle to hold down a place * Joined West Ham United during the summer when his contract expired and now deputises for former Norwich keeper Robert Green at Upton Park
Espen Baardsen
* Born: San Rafael, California, USA, December 7 1977 (current age 29) * 1 Everton appearance January 12 2003 * Despite being American born and a former US U18 keeper Baardsen won four full caps and more than 20 U21 caps for Norway where his parents hailed from * Spotted playing for San Francisco All Blacks, Baardsen was given his chance in the Premier League with Tottenham where he played 29 games before a £1.25million move to Watford * Played 46 matches for the Hornets but was displaced by veteran Alec Chamberlain, a former Everton reserve keeper, and came to Goodison as short-term cover for Wright * Made his only Everton appearance in a 4-3 defeat at ex-club Spurs and having quit the game in his mid 20s, is now believed to be working as a financial analyst for a London-based hedge fund
Nigel Martyn
* Born: St Austell, Cornwall, August 11 1966 (current age 41) * 86 Everton appearances 2003-2006 * Martyn became English football’s first £1million keeper when Crystal Palace signed him from Bristol Rovers in 1989 and he went on to make 272 appearances for the Eagles * Won 23 England caps and almost came to Goodison in 1996 before deciding to go to Leeds instead for another record £2.25million fee after reputedly being kept waiting around at then-Everton chairman Peter Johnson’s Park Foods base * Inspired form helped Everton to their highest ever Premier League finish of fourth in 2005 * Performed consistently into his 40th year before an ankle injury finally forced him to retire in 2006
