Joseph Yobo was employed in the position for last week's win over Bolton Wanderers, but the return to fitness of Simon Davies after a thigh injury means Phil Neville is likely to go back to full-back for today's trip to rock-bottom Charlton Athletic.
Moyes's selection problems are eased slightly by the availability of James McFadden, who has completed a two-match suspension following his sending-off against Arsenal in the Carling Cup.
But the Everton manager said: "We don't have a great deal of players to choose from at the moment. If we had more players we could give a rest to some of the players that need one, but we can't do that.
"Even if players aren't at their best or are a bit out of form, we are picking from 12 or 13 players at the moment so they're getting a game anyway."
Moyes is without long-term absentees Alessandro Pistone, Gary Naysmith and Paddy Boyle, although he received better news over the fitness of Tim Cahill.
"Tim went to see a specialist this week, and it looks like he won't need an operation," said Moyes. "It just looks like a medial ligament injury, and there doesn't appear to be any cartilage damage. He should be back for January."
