Carlo Nash signed for Everton, the team he supported as a boy on transfer deadline day, September 2008 as backup for first choice ‘keeper Tim Howard.

Nash has had a wealth of Premiership experience in his 16 year career so far, including spells at Manchester City and Middleborough.

He started his career at non-league Rossendale United and Clitheroe before heading to Crystal Palace. He had a long spell with Stockport County before making a big move to Manchester City. Once City were an established Premiership team, Nash was sold onto Middlesbrough. After only playing five games for the club in two years, he returned to the Championship, joining Preston North End.

He set a club record of 24 clean sheets with Preston North End during the 2005-06 season, as they conceded fewer goals than champions Reading.

He then signed for Wigan on a month long emergency loan in February 2007, and signed permanently in June the same year.  In March 2008, Carlo joined Stoke City on loan, helping them gain automatic promotion to the Premier League.

He joined Everton from Wigan on a 2 year deal with an option for a further year.

In July 2006 he angered the club and their supporters by publishing on his personal website that Preston’s ambition did not match that of his own. However he remained as first choice keeper until January 2007, when he upset the club again by expressing his interest to move to Fulham. He was dropped to the bench for the next game and became the club’s 4th choice keeper.
