JAMES VAUGHAN became Everton's youngest ever first-team player when he came on as a substitute against Crystal Palace on April 10, 2005, beating Joe Royle's record by 11 days.
He then went on to score the fourth goal in the same game as Everton won 4-0 and he beat Wayne Rooney's previously held record as the club's youngest ever goalscorer at the age of 16 years 271 days.
This surpassed Rooney's record by 89 days but he also surpassed James Milner's record as the youngest ever Premiership goalscorer by 86 days.
Vaughan has been at Everton since he was nine years old, progressing through the Academy and signed his first professional contract for two years in the summer of 2005.
Unfortunately, due to knee ligament damage - sustained early in the 2005/06 season whilst on international duty with England Under-18s - James was ruled out for the remainder of the campaign.
Vaughan's injury was so severe that he did not re-emerge until November 2006, David Moyes reluctantly fielding the player after the Everton squad became dangerously threadbare through injury.
The player bounced back on his first return, however, scoring a decisive stoppage time goal in a 2-0 victory against West Ham.
Vaughan went on to make several starting and substitute appearances for the first team, including a start in Everton's important 1-0 win over Arsenal.
