THE injury to Wayne Rooney and the scare about Michael Owen last weekend, meant that a number of Premiership strikers suddenly started thinking about postponing their summer holidays again.
The only problem is, too many of them have been playing like they've already started their summer hols.
James Beattie's name surfaced again in some newspapers as soon as the news on Rooney's foot was confirmed. But the problem for the Blues centre-forward is that he hasn't scored since the home defeat of Fulham.
I've even heard Robbie Fowler mentioned as a possible replacement - and he's certainly been in much better scoring form.
But if I was an English centre-forward other than Peter Crouch right now, I wouldn't be worrying too much about cancelling my holiday arrangements.
The simple fact is, that noone knows yet whether Wayne Rooney will go to Germany or not.
Much will depend on what Manchester United have to say about the extent of his injury - and given Alex Ferguson's gloomy views today - it hardly looks hopeful.
