BRIAN LABONE'S funeral on Thursday will be a desperately sad occasion - and I'm certain there will be hundreds of fans from both sides of the Mersey divide paying their respects at the Anglican Cathedral.
I met Brian a few times when I was a player at Everton, and I spoke to him quite a few times in more recent years when he was organising dinners and functions for the Former Players Foundation.
Brian was a lovely man. You would be very hard pressed to find anybody on Merseyside - red or blue - to say anything negative about Brian.
He was a real True Blue and I'd simply like to pass on my condolences to his family - and reiterate that he will be sorely missed.
I WATCHED Chelsea do it on Saturday, I saw Tottenham do it on Sunday, then I saw TV pictures of Liverpool doing it over the weekend, too.
Now it's important that Everton do exactly the same next Sunday - and that's send their supporters home happy in the final home game of the season.
West Bromwich Albion are already relegated and planning for next season, they have absolutely nothing to play for - so it's important that Everton finish off with a win.
It would be even better if they could somehow score the four goals that would prevent them being labelled the lowest scoring team in the club's history . . . but let's not get ahead of ourselves.
A win is most important, so that the end of season lap of honour doesn't fall flat and so that the supporters can go into the summer on something of a high.
