IT’S been a quiet fortnight for the Blues with the unnecessary break for internationals. This break, though, will enable Arteta and the Yak to get closer to returning to first team action.
The game against Fulham on Sunday is one that we can win to get us moving up the table. Saha is looking sharp and with Pienaar, Cahill and Rodwell in the middle we can hurt them. Rodwell is really maturing and should be the first name in our midfield, he is so comfortable on the ball, can tackle and can score goals too.
Our European adventure starts next week in a group where we can qualify. Our main aim is to win the home games which should be enough to see us qualify.
We will take it seriously unlike other Premier League clubs. Trips to Benfica and Athens are very mouth-watering for the Evertonians to enjoy.
THE Cahill/ Fellaini dilemma is one that fans have been asking for a long time.
The performances of both in the opening games against Arsenal and Burnley seemed to reinforce the ideas that Cahill is at his best behind a lone striker, while many would argue that is also Fellaini’s best position.
The change against Wigan though I think showed that they can be accommodated in the same side if Fellaini is the deeper player.
Cahill looked far more comfortable and happy playing behind Saha in the game, while Fellaini made a very effective sub as the central midfield player, linking up very well, keeping possession, and in general his much quicker feet made a difference.
Options are important for a team like us, who have struggled with a small squad for years.
