FULHAM have been given 48 hours to complete the proposed transfer of Andrew Johnson before the striker returns to Everton.
The England international’s move is still on hold despite the two clubs last week settling on a fee that could eventually net the Goodison outfit £13million.
Johnson agreed personal terms but a medical discovered a possible problem with a knee injury sustained while at former club Crystal Palace.
That has prompted Fulham to call for a renegotiation of the transfer and the amount they must pay in instalments.
With no new terms having yet been reached, Everton are growing impatient with the impasse and want a final decision on the deal in the next few days.
Speaking at the weekend, Fulham manager Roy Hodgson remains confident Johnson can make the move to Craven Cottage.
"Negotiations are ongoing and we hope to sign the player," said Hodgson. "It will be a very good signing if we can do it. I would expect the deal to be done this week.
"If we can get Johnson alongside Bobby Zamora, with the midfield we've got, we look a stronger team than last season."
