No more weakened sides in Premiership WHAT happened years ago in the League Cup and then became the norm in the FA Cup has now crept into the Premiership - and it has to stop. I’m talking about fielding ‘weakened’ starting line-ups. Liverpool did so at a Fulham side fighting relegation and were rightly chastised. There is a saying that luck evens itself out over 38 games but when you look at the sides battling to stay up and something like that happens, how can good fortune play a part? I think teams have a duty to play their strongest possible 11, no matter what the circumstances. Incidentally, all this fuss about Carlos Tevez - would it have lingered on so long if he had been playing for an Aston Villa or Newcastle? Draw your own conclusions.
