PHIL NEVILLE’S knee ligament injury is a crushing blow not only to the player but to Everton on several levels.
Although the club have been initially hopeful that their influential skipper wouldn’t be too severely hurt after being stretchered off at Fulham, it now looks like Neville will be facing a lengthy spell on the sidelines.
When it comes to Premier League captains, there aren’t many who immerse themselves as fully into every aspect of the role as the band with the armband at Goodison Park.
Amongst David Moyes’s players, Neville is the leader, spokesman and role model to others both on and off the pitch and such qualities will be sorely missed by an already struggling Everton side in the weeks ahead.
