MARK LAWRENSON: Why Everton boss David Moyes should change stance over Joleon Lescott

THE stance David Moyes has taken over Joleon Lescott has been an admirable one. He’s made it clear that it’s Everton who make the decisions on what happens to their players and they won’t be bullied into selling.
That’s why there would be absolutely no loss of face on Moyes’s part if he now altered his outlook and decided that it was time to cash in and let the player leave.
And I think that would be the right decision for the club.
If Manchester City come back in with something in the region of £21m-22m, then it would give Everton the chance to make two or three quality additions to the squad before the end of the transfer window.
Which I think is a much better option than hanging on to one player who doesn’t want to be there, no matter how good he is.
In theory that kind of money could get someone like Matthew Upson as a replacement in defence, then there would be enough left over for another striker, perhaps Tuncay.
Or maybe by spending the money on Tuncay and Senderos, there would be enough left for a third addition?
