KRISZTIAN NEMETH’S eighth goal in nine games gave Liverpool Reserves a 1-0 win at Blackburn last night, as Gary Ablett’s side clinched the FA Premier Reserve League North title with two games still to play.
The Hungarian found the net after 25 minutes, latching onto Dani Pacheco’s brilliant through ball and holding off a defender before rolling the ball into the net from close range.
Liverpool had other opportunities, notably through Flynn and Pacheco who both should have done better with one on one situations.
Blackburn kept Liverpool at arms length for most of the second half, but they couldn’t find a way to threaten the Liverpool goal as keeper Dave Martin was a spectator for much of the game and didn’t have a single save to make.
Flynn went closest to a second goal, latching onto another lovely ball from Pacheco and forcing a good save out of Rovers keeper Nielson. As winners of the Northern League, Liverpool will now play a two legged tie with the Southern Champions.
