Fernando Torres named in Euro 2008 team of tournament

FERNANDO TORRES was named in UEFA's squad of the tournament at the European Championships. But Manchester United’s Cristiano Ronaldo did not make the 23-man group. Liverpool’s Spanish hero was one of four forwards, alongside international team-mate David Villa and Russia’s Andrei Arshavin and Dmitri Pavlyuchenko. But Ronaldo’s exclusion underlined Portugal’s disappointing performance in Austria and Switzerland. UEFA technical director Andy Roxburgh said that Torres has proved himself one of the top players in Europe. Story continues ADVERTISEMENT He said: “Clearly he’s a match-winner. He’s a fantastic front player – very fast, powerful, brave – and he’s a finisher.
