FIRSTLY, as a born and bred Scouser I 110% agree with Carra – he is totally right!
Jamie’s book has upset people as it’s touched a nerve because it’s true – Liverpool fans are more educated, more experienced and more understanding as we have been to the heights of heaven and the depths of hell and come back for more.
The lad admits that it is an honour to play for his country but a bigger honour to play for Liverpool FC (and he was brought up a Blue!)
The national side would get more of a nationwide following if the home matches were played at grounds around the country, like they did during the ‘New Wembley’ construction farce.
But I wouldn’t go to watch England if I was given a free ticket.

Bored stiff
WHENEVER I watch England play I’m absolutely bored stiff.
We have no technical players at all and play direct football which has been going on since the Hungarians beat us in the 1950s.

No support
I WOULDN’T go quite so far as to support Spain against England, but other than that, spot on.

National doubt
DOESN’T this sum it all up? A few weeks ago the nation stopped to find out who would be captain, Ferdinand or Terry.
It is impossible to fully support a national side that is filled with players you can’t stand at club level.

Balancing act
I’M a Liverpool fan first and foremost, but at the same time I want to see England do well.
I think there needs to be a balance between the two. Arranging stupid friendlies just one game into the league season isn’t going to help anyone’s cause.
They should re-arrange the qualifying tournaments to a specific time of the year where no domestic football is played. If they can have a World Cup or Euro championships in a two-week or a month gap in the year, then I’m pretty sure you can have a qualifying period in the same time.
