Liverpool in plea over Jamie Carragher's red card

Nov 2 2009

by Dominic King, Liverpool Echo

JAMIE CARRAGHER is hoping referee Lee Mason will have a change of heart and rescind the red card he received during Liverpool’s latest defeat.

Liverpool will appeal the decision which meant they ended the game against Fulham with nine men, as they believe there is enough evidence to prove Mason made a mistake in showing Carragher a red card.

Television replays confirmed that Carragher got a toe to the ball when he tangled with Bobby Zamora, while the striker – who scored the first of Fulham’s three goals – told Mason that Carragher had not committed a foul.
