Lucas Leiva can be great - Steven Gerrard

STEVEN GERRARD is backing Brazilian whizz-kid Lucas Leiva to go on to become an Anfield great. The Liverpool skipper believes the 20-year-old midfielder – who is expected to retain his place in the Reds squad for tomorrow’s trip to Blackburn after impressing against Cardiff City in midweek – has a bright future in the game. Gerrard said: “He is only a young lad but once he picks up more experience and if he keeps on doing the right things in training and listening to the right people then I’m sure he will go on to be a great player.” Rafa Benitez has also been delighted with his £6m summer signing, describing him as “a complete midfielder”.
