FLORENT MALOUDA has confirmed he is on Rafael Benitez’s summer wishlist – but is still waiting on Liverpool to make their move. The France international said yesterday that the Anfield outfit have made contact over a possible move to the Premiership. But both Malouda and his club Lyon revealed no official bid has yet been tabled by Liverpool for the £10million-rated left winger. Malouda has expressed his desire to leave the French champions and has been given until the end of the month by Lyon chairman Jean-Michel Aulas to arrange a transfer out of the club. The 26-year-old, recently named player of the season in the French Ligue 1, is being courted by several top European clubs including Arsenal. Liverpool, though, remain favourites to capture his signature with Malouda keen to resolve his future as soon as possible. “There are contacts with Liverpool but they haven’t made an offer to Lyon yet,” said Malouda. “They are a good club and play in the English league, which is very interesting. “I agree with my chairman when he says that all Lyon transfers have to be signed before June 30. I am leaving, it is just a question of time.” While Malouda’s arrival is a real possibility, there now seems little chance of Carlos Tevez moving to Liverpool after his representatives slapped a £30m price tag on the player. The agent of Daniel Alves, another Liverpool target, has suggested the Brazilian could be ready for a move away from Sevilla with a clutch of top clubs tracking the right-back. Benitez failed with a £12m offer for the 24-year-old last year and has since seen the player’s value rocket following another fine season in Spain. Valencia winger David Silva has also come under consideration, but it seems unlikely that the Mestalla outfit will part with the 21-year-old. Silva is only 12 months into a four-year deal at the club but has attracted plenty of interest following an impressive campaign in La Liga. But while Valencia are in no hurry to begin negotiations over a new contract, they are keen to reward the player for his efforts as they seek to encourage key members of the squad to remain at the club for next season. “At the moment we would not feel the need to renew his contract, which is a very good contract,” said Valencia’s director of football Amedeo Carboni. “But maybe we could offer a reward of some sort, something that the club has already done before. “It would not be a completely new contract, but like what happened six months after David Villa joined, we could revise his current deal.” Meanwhile, Scottish champions Celtic are the latest club to linked with a move for Robbie Fowler. The striker is available on a free transfer after being released by Liverpool at the end of the season. Scottish Newcastle United and Bolton Wanderers are among several clubs to have tracked the 32-year-old, with interest also mooted from the United States and Australia. Now Celtic have joined the race for Fowler, who scored 183 goals in 369 appearances during his two spells with Liverpool. |
