That prompted renewed speculation of an attempt by Chelsea, backed by Roman Abramovich's millions, to lure the England international to Stamford Bridge with a £30million bid.
But Liverpool chief executive Parry has revealed no approach has been made, and that any such offer would be swiftly rejected.
"We are trying to build a team around Steven Gerrard," he said. "Steven is our future."
Parry also confirmed Djibril Cisse will complete a transfer worth £14m on July 1 from Auxerre, dismissing any suggestion the deal would be scrapped following Houllier's departure.
"Cisse is a very exciting player with a good goalscoring record," he said. "He has pace and power and all the qualities a modern striker needs. He is someone who we believe is capable of scoring 20 goals a season.
"I don't think you could have taken the decision not to sign Cisse just because we have parted company with Gerard."
Meanwhile, coach Christian Damiano will leave Liverpool as the club look for a clean break from the Houllier regime.
The remainder of the coaching staff will not have their futures decided until the new manager determines the make-up of his backroom staff, although both Sammy Lee and Ian Rush are almost certain to be asked to stay on.
