SAMI HYYPIA says new goalkeeper Pepe Reina is getting to grips with a change in language - and that is keeping the Liverpool defenders on their toes.
Reina arrived at Anfield with a ringing endorsement from manager Rafael Benitez, who believes he is the best in Spain and has predicted he can make as big an impression on the English game as Peter Schmeichel. And Hyypia agrees that the summer signing is beginning to forge productive links with the players in front of him.
The Finnish international said: "When he first came he didn't speak much English but he's learning well very quickly.
"He is a good goalkeeper, very commanding in his area and he communicates a lot with us which is always a very good sign.
"He hasn't had a lot to do in the games we have played so far but we have to be happy as a team that we have stopped the opposition from creating too many chances."
Hyypia added: "He has got a heck of a punch on him. He punches the ball in training and gets a lot of distance with them, some even go over the halfway line!"
