BOUDEWIJN ZENDEN insists he can still play a part in Liverpool's quest for honours this season.
The Holland international was expected to be sidelined for the remainder of the campaign after sustaining knee ligament damage during training in November.
The injury came just as Zenden had started to establish himself in the first team following an underwhelming start to his Anfield career since arriving on a free from Middlesbrough last summer.
But the 29-year-old winger believes he can recover in time for the climax of the campaign - which he hopes will be the Champions League final in Paris in May.
Zenden cites team-mate Djibril Cisse as his inspiration, with the French striker having made a comeback from a double leg fracture last season to play in Istanbul and score in the decisive penalty shoot-out against AC Milan.
"I look at someone like Djibril who made a remarkable recovery last season," said Zenden. "I've told him that I will be back to score the winner in Paris in May!
"You never know how it goes. Djibril came back after just six months and went on to score one of the penalties in the Champions League final.
"That was such a nice scenario, so it can happen. It would be a dream for me to come back and score the winner in Paris. I'm up for it."
He added: "I'm not sure if it's possible for me to play this season, but I'm working towards it.
"It is something I can't really speed up. You have to take your time. It is frustrating and disappointing."
