Rovers linked to Raven loan move

David Raven

YOUNG Liverpool defensive prospect David Raven could be given the chance to build up his first-team experience with hometown team Tranmere Rovers.

The League One club are being linked with a loan move for the 20-year-old ahead of next Tuesday's transfer deadline.

Birkenhead-born Raven joined Liverpool's academy at the age of 14, having previously been at Tranmere's School of Excellence.

Having already captained the England under-20 team on a number of occasions, Raven enjoyed his best season with Liverpool to date last term.

He was part of the young team that got the Reds to the Carling Cup final against Chelsea.

In the epic quarter-final penalty shootout win over Tottenham at White Hart Lane, Raven produced a man-ofthe-match performance as Liverpool's youngsters overcame a full-strength Spurs side.

His impressive performance helped earn him a new two-year contract. Raven's lowest point in a Liverpool shirt came in the 1-0 defeat to Burnley in the FA Cup 3rd Round last year, but he kept turning in consistent performances in the reserves.

Currently captain of the reserves, Raven has seen his first team opportunities limited to an appearance in the Carling Cup defeat to Crystal Palace. However, despite being on the losing side, Raven turned in another solid performance.
