DESPITE taking an early lead 10-man Liverpool under-18s just couldn’t cope with Manchester City as they lost 6-2 at the Kirkby Academy on Saturday.
It has been a tough start to the FA Premier Academy League for Rodolfo Borrell’s side and although the sending off of Michael Roberts in the second half didn’t help, they were shown how far they have to imprive at this level against a strong City side who have won the north west section for the past two seasons.
Tom Ince opened the scoring for Liverpool in the first minute. German youth international Christopher Buchtmann saw his shot, following a powerful run come back off the post, but Ince collected the ball, cut in from the right and fired superbly past City keeper Erik Johansen.
