Ronnie, who was a well-known landlord of the Castle Hotel, in Birkenhead, died four years ago at the age of 62 and Clive died last year at the age of 40.
Both were lifelong Reds fans and season ticket holders.
Their posthumous trip to Istanbul has become the stuff of legend among fans according to steel erector Karl, who travelled to Turkey with friends Kevin Connell and Peter Taylor.
He said: "I've told this story to a few people since that night and I have never had anyone react badly to it. People can't get over it - they think it is brilliant.
"They were such big Liverpool fans that even a little part of them being there was important. Everyone has memories of that -but this is special."
But the Champions League final was not the first time that Ronnie and Clive's ashes had travelled overseas.
The pair's ashes have accompanied family and friends on honeymoon to Bali and on holiday to Egypt.
They are also often taken along to family get togethers, birthday parties and celebrations and other special events.
