The Jury: Liverpool FC fans on international football and the trip to Sunderland

JOHN CRUCES, Kirkby

I AM probably not alone in not liking the international breaks. In fact, I can’t stand them, so the sooner the week is over and we are back to ‘real’ football, the better.

Part of the reason I hate the internationals is due to injuries picked up. It looks like we will return to action without Gerrard and possibly Torres – not what we want coming back after two defeats without scoring in either game.

Away at Sunderland is a tricky fixture as well and in many ways is now a must win game to keep in touch with our rivals.

Off the park it looks like there may be a potential bid from the Saudi Royal, Prince Faisal. The worrying thing is his advisors say they are concerned whether the club’s current debt is manageable. Yet the current custodians have often attempted to reassure fans it is. Obviously this cannot be 100% true, hence the concern. Either way, the interest has to be a positive as it is more likely he is interested in the long-term., as opposed to making a quick buck!

ANTHONY DUNN, Wavertree

WE competed with Chelsea, but we only had two players capable of winning the game and both got dealt with.

The rest of the team lacked the quality to change the game.

Taking into account the injuries, we could be going up to Sunderland with a very limited squad.

We should be replacing the injured with Peter Crouch, Craig Bellamy or Robbie Keane.

I’d love to see the scouting reports for some of the players we’ve kept and let go. There are at least five clubs in the league who have more quality in their squad, and it is a massive concern.

In the past Benitez’s teams have been unpredictable; this season it has been easy for opposition managers.

Several clubs are progressing very quickly and producing good teams. We cannot afford to stand still.

After the last couple of games, everyone at the club must stick together and come out fighting.
