SOMETIMES it’s the things that go unsaid which are the most significant and we were given a perfect example of that at the weekend.
It would have been easy for Rafa Benitez to rant and rave about ‘beach-ball gate’ or for Jamie Carragher to blame the match officials for making a mistake but the fact that neither man passed comment on the matter after Liverpool’s defeat at Sunderland spoke volumes.
There was no point complaining as, quite simply, Liverpool did not deserve to win the game, even though it was one they desperately needed to; yes, the referee has got to get the decision right but that’s what happens when luck is going against you.
