Tommy Smith: Stoke City can give Liverpool FC a headache

THE LAST thing in the world that you need ahead of the visit of a team which relishes set pieces and long throws, is two centre-backs suffering from head injuries.
Stoke City will come to Anfield tonight and do what they do well.
And it’s important that the likes of Jamie Carragher and Martin Skrtel – if available – respond.
The game has changed dramatically since I was playing 30-odd years ago, but I’m sure some things are exactly the same.
If an opposition team came to Anfield with one or two players suffering from a well publicised knock or injury, Shanks would just remind you what ankle or knee the player had injured!
