The Jury: Liverpool FC fans reflect on the Champions League defeat at Fiorentina

LISA SOUTHERN, Little Sutton

WITH the club’s most prolific start to a season since 1895-96 it’s no wonder Red’s fans were on a high going into the Florentina Champions League game.

Unfortunately it felt like a case of invasion of the body snatchers as the Liverpool side that demolished Hull 6-1 at the weekend were nowhere to be seen.

The Stadio Artemio Franch is a tough place to play as past fixtures against English teams have proven how difficult it is to get a result there.

ŠOur negative gameplay backfired and the partnership of Lucas Levia and Fabio Aurelio in midfield lacked any strength and was no match for the dominate Italian side.

We need a couple of clean sheets to restore faith at the back without abandoning our attacking game.

ROBERT GILLIES, Aigburth

THIS was one or our worst collective performances in Europe for years. Anaemic in the tackle, wasteful in possession and totally one paced in the first half. It was almost as if we already had the visit to the Bridge on our minds.

A half time interval of gloating Sky reporting set us up for ten minutes or so of wasted chances before we completely ran out of ideas. There was no man of the match.

Now confine this game to the memory bin. It will not happen again for a long time. Our sole aim is to qualify out of the group and we still have plenty of room to manoeuvre.

We can do it by the skin of our teeth as far as I am concerned as long as it does not distract from the Premiership campaign. The players should spend the next few days focusing on the Chelsea game and live up to the saying that good teams do not lose two games in a row.
