TRANMERE’S under-18s notched a first penalty shoot-out success in six attempts to claim a place in the Puma Youth Alliance Cup second round. Tranmere exploited the windy conditions to take a 2-0 interval lead as Dale Jennings put the visitors ahead before Max Power doubled the advantage. The home side pulled level with goals on 51 and 75 minutes before Tranmere’s penalty takers – Power, Roberts, Liam Benson, Jay Gibbs and Joe Conchie – settled the game. Coach Shaun Garnett said: “I was pleased we defended better and kept our shape better than some recent games. There was more discipline.” Tranmere travel to Stockport in round two. |
