TRANMERE were happy to take a Puma Youth Alliance point at Colliers Park. They started slowly against a competitive Wrexham side and could have no complaints about falling behind after 35 minutes of the North West Conference fixture. Rovers made a better fist of adapting their own game to counter Wrexham’s threat after the interval. They quickly levelled through a 46th-minute strike by Tom Baker. The visitors lost Dale Jennings to a second bookable offence on 77 minutes and held out under pressure as Wrexham wasted several scoring opportunities. Coach Shaun Garnett said: “I expect Wrexham will feel disappointed they did not win the game. “We did not play well in the first half. We are taking too long to adapt our own game if the opposition plays in a way that makes it difficult for us. Fortunately the lads responded to the instructions they were given at half-time. It happened against Macclesfield previous week and we were three goals down inside 20 minutes that time.” Tranmere play host to Walsall in a Youth Alliance fixture at Raby Vale on Saturday, kick-off 11 am. |
