Birkenhead born Ian Moore returns to his first club after more than a decade away.  He is the son of current Rovers boss Ronnie Moore.

Moore joins Tranmere from League One side Hartlepool United, where he made 24 appearances and scored 6 goals.

The 31-year-old striker, who can also play on the right flank, is known for his pace and determination and has had a wealth of experience, playing for eight different clubs in several different divisions.

The forward began his professional career at Tranmere in the mid-90s, coming through the youth ranks to break into the first side in the 1995/1996.

The young forward impressed in his first season in the full squad, earning himself a £1m move to Nottingham Forest.

Moore's move to the East Midlands was to be short-lived, however the player spent only one season at the club, making 15 appearances and scoring just once.  Forest also loaned Moore out to West Ham United, where he made just one appearance.  Despite a disappointing spell in Nottingham, the striker's early efforts gained him a call-up to the England

After moving to Stockport County for the 1998 season, Ian Moore found himself as a regular starter who could frequently get on the score sheet, scoring twenty goals during two campaigns at County.

The player would enjoy similar regularity during five seasons with Burnley, who he joined in another £1m move, notching up almost two-hundred appearances and nearly forty goals.

Leeds would then beckon for Moore, where he would suffer another disappointing spell.  Despite making fifty-nine appearances in two seasons, Moore managed just two goals- both of which came in the same game.

Moore scored on his return debut for Rovers against his former club Leeds United, helping Tranmere to a 2-1 victory.  He insists that it was the lure of playing again for his boyhood club, and not the family connection, which has drawn him back to the Wirral.
