Ronnie Moore needs to get the basics right for a start

THE natives are getting restless, and understandably so.
After we managed a single shot on goal against Bristol Rovers the crowd reaction was inevitable, and not even the most committed fan could find a crumb of comfort in such a blandly inept display.
Going forward the visitors demonstrated everything we’re lacking. Pace, mobility and an attacking style that turned the defence, although it was a surprise that they stayed on their feet long enough to score a couple.
Our strikers continue to get the ball pumped in to their feet, backs to goal, 30 yards out. When we’re chasing a game, the gaffer changes the forwards when it’s clearly the supply line that’s the problem.
McLaren and Jennings are probably our best pair in the middle but our play has no guile or thought and the engine room has to be the priority during this transfer window.
On top of that, Ronnie is making some bizarre Little-esque decisions. What impact Greenacre or Curran are expected to make on the wing is anybody’s guess and, as ever, Mike Jones continues to get no more than the odd half an hour to try to settle into the first team. Give the lad a real chance.
With our promotion push derailed, tonight’s trip to Hereford has taken on the look of a make or break game. Win and we’re facing a home cup-tie with Cardiff that gives us an even chance of making the fifth round.
Lose and it looks like a long few months through to the end of a season that once again promised more than it’s delivered.
The manager can bemoan performances until the cows come home but ultimately its down to him and Peter Shirtliff to get the heads up and the basics right. A few passes into space, concentration in defence, and the odd shot on goal would be a start.
