WEDNESDAY night’s magnificent win over Leicester City means it is well and truly game on as far as the play-offs are concerned.
The game had the potential to make or break our season.
The manor of the victory was especially pleasing. The back four, led emphatically by veteran Ian Goodison, coped with two of the most dangerous strikers in League One.
We also attacked with a youthful vigour that we have lacked much of the season. The young lads out wide were superb. Both Charlie Barnett and Danny Mayor – what a signing he may turn out to be – have pace about them and a real willingness to get their head down and run at defenders.
Ronnie Moore has done absolutely the right thing in axing the ineffective Shuker and Sonko and playing the two youngsters instead – they have pointed out just what we have been missing.
The performance of young Terry Gornell was again superb. He may lack the real cutting-edge pace that catches the eye with most young strikers, but he is nonetheless very talented.
Looking ahead, lose to Huddersfield and things start to look very tough again.
