ACTOR Jude Law is reported to be set to play Brian Epstein in a film of the Beatles manager's life.
Two years ago, the ECHO revealed Law, star of Alfie - partly shot in Liverpool - and Cold Mountain, wanted to play Epstein and said he had been told he looked like the famous manager.
Now he has his chance.
The movie, described as a "quirky, hallucinogenic biopic", is expected to be premiered in Liverpool during Capital of Culture year 2008.
After years of talks over the Fifth Beatle project, Broadway producer Vivek Tiwary has written a script which depicts Epstein's life through historical scenes, dream sequences and hallucinations.
He says he has the blessing of Epstein's family and has been working closely with Brian's business partner Nat Weiss and assistant Joanne Peterson.
The producer of award-winning Broadway revival of A Raisin in the Sun described the film as "closer to Pink Floyd's The Wall" than a traditional biopic like last year's Oscar-winning Ray.
Tiwary also believes Epstein's death of a drug overdose was accidental, not suicide.
Despite Epstein's fame as the manager of the biggest band of all time, the Beatles' music will not be an element of the movie.
