Julian Lennon

by Peter Grant, icLiverpool

JULIAN was born John Charles Julian Lennon in Sefton General Hospital, Liverpool, in 1963 just a few weeks after Please Please Me was number one.

Cythnia brought up Julian away from the pressures of the media.

His nasally-strong vocals were uncannily like his fathers' on the catchy hit Too Late For Goodbyes. And his first album Valotte in 1984 was well-received.

For years, his relationship with Yoko was strained and on many occasions John said he regretted not seeing more of his son in the heady days of Beatlemania

Julian finally made his peace with Yoko and was given a share in John's estate.

After packing in the music business disillusioned, he went around the world. Julian returned refreshed with the well-produced and critically-acclaimed Photograph Smile.

He hinted at touring again but with an idea to not charge an admission price, simply asking fans to donate a toy or game at the box office which would be given to hospitals in respective cities.

Ironically, Julian released his album Photograph Smile in 1998 in the same week as half-brother Sean's debut Into The Sun.

Julian was also the inspiration for The Beatles single Hey Jude, although the song was largely written by Paul.
