THE Beatles at the BBC: The Radio Years 1962-70, by Kevin Howlett, is an excellent account of their time at The Beeb.
Howlett describes The Beatles' radio career from their audition and appearance on the programme Teenagers Turn, to the following radio interviews right up to the time the dreaded split approached.
It is a very well-researched work giving insights into the people who worked with them as well as extracts from their many broadcast enterprises.
For those readers interested in Broadcasting history, it is also a colourful look at life within the BBC during the Sixties.
It is illustrated with many previously unseen photographs and authentic documents from the BBC Archives - including The Beatles original audition report and magazine covers and cuttings.
Also included is valuable reference information for dedicated fans, such as a detailed listing of the programmes they appeared on and many of the songs they performed, many of which were never released until The Beatles Live At The BBC compilation.
